  • Can my insurance company choose where my vehicle is repaired?

Absolutely NOT!  Minnesota State Law says that an insurance company cannot determine where you get your vehicle fixed. You have the legal right, and power, to have your vehicle repaired wherever you feel will give you the best quality, service, and value.

In fact, some insurance companies apply so much pressure to push vehicles to the shop of their choosing that Minnesota passed MN statute 72A.201 Subd.5.14 that states:

at the time a claim is reported, the insurer must provide the following advisory to the insured or claimant:

"You have the legal right to choose a repair shop to fix your vehicle. Your policy will cover the reasonable costs of repairing your vehicle to its pre-accident condition no matter where you have repairs made. Have you selected a repair shop or would you like a referral?"

 

  • Do I need more than one estimate?

No. You are only legally required to get one estimate.  Furthermore, MN stature 72B.092 Subd 1.2 states that insurance companies cannot:

(2) require that an insured or claimant present the claim or the automobile for loss adjustment or inspection at a "drive-in" claim center or any other similar facility solely under the control of the insurer;

Just tell the insurance company involved that you are having your repairs done at Rochester Collision Center and we’ll guide you through the rest of the process. We work with all insurance companies.

  • How long will the repairs on my vehicle take?

There are many factors that affect the length of time it takes to repair your vehicle.  Some of these include:  availability of parts, extent of damage, insurance approval delays, and hidden damage. Your estimator will give you an estimate of the time it will take to complete the repairs on your vehicle.

  • Will an accident affect my rates?

That is a question that will have to be answered by your insurance company. But keep in mind that insurance companies cannot raise premiums because you chose one shop instead of another.  

  • Do you have rental cars?

Yes.  We have a fleet of over 15 late model, low mileage rental cars available.  Check with your insurance company to see if you have rental coverage!  No rental coverate, no problem!  Our rental fees are usually the cheapest in town.

  • What do I need to do to have repairs started?

Some insurance companies require that they write their own initial estimate. In those cases all we need is a copy of that estimate.  If your insurance company will work off of our estimate, all we need is the claim number.  To make a claim, contact your insurance agent or company. They will help you gather information for your claim, including a claim number.

  • When can I wash and wax my vehicle?

Because the finish has already been cured, you can wash your vehicle the same day your pick up. Washing your car by hand or going through a touchless car wash is alright to do, as is the touchless wax option. Hand waxing, however should be delayed for 90 days.

  • Do you have towing?

We do not have a tow truck, but we are happy to set up your towing for you!

  • Do you work on all cars?

We repair all of the major makes and models.

  • How long does an estimate take?

On average, an estimate takes between 20-30 minutes. The actual time is dependent upon the extent of damage to your vehicle.

  • Can I get a ride to work?

Yes, we have a network of Rochester Motor Cars shuttles that will drop you off and pick you up anywhere within the Rochester city limits.

  • Can I get other work done on my vehicle while it is in the body shop?

Yes.  We have in-house Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) which is an inexpensive way to remove smaller dents.  We also offer paint buffing and touchup repairs and some minor interior repairs as well.  And we’re always happy to coordinate service work with our service departments.

  • How will I know when my vehicle is complete?

We will update you throughout the process and notify you when you vehicle is done and ready to be picked up.

  • What forms of payment do your accept?
